FAQs

What should I expect at an appointment?

At your first appointment, Dr. Rosen will first conduct a detailed history, discussing your primary complaint, but also other relevant aspects of your medical and personal history that may be helpful in your care. Then, you will have an exam, followed by an Osteopathic Treatment. On follow-up appointments, there will first be a brief update and discussion of relevant issues, which will again be followed by an exam and treatment.

Can Dr. Rosen be my Primary Care Physician?

While Dr. Rosen is a licensed physician in New York State, with all those rights and privileges, he specializes in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and does not care for the general medical aspects of patient care. A patient is required to maintain a relationship with a separate Primary Care Physician.

How will my child be treated?

Dr. Rosen requires that at least one parent or guardian is present during the appointment for anyone under the age of 18. Ideally, the patient is able to lay on a treatment table for 20-30 minutes, but if young and needed, they can be treated on a parent’s lap, sitting, or being held. Please bring a few favorite toys or books to read to them, and for older children, a book for them to read themselves, if needed. Please refrain from using electronics or a phone as a distraction use unless absolutely necessary. As the treatment is gentle, children tolerate it well and typically enjoy it.

What should I wear to my appointment and are scents ok?

You will remain clothed during the treatment. While any clothes can be managed, one layer on the upper body, and loose fitting bottoms are ideal. Please refrain from using anything with a scent when coming to your appointment (perfume, hair spray, essential oils, etc) as they can significantly bother other patients, potentially triggering allergic reactions, migraine headaches, etc.
